Gotland, summer 2024
Welcome to Visby. Pay the toll to the nice little sheep and enter the medieval city centre.
So jump up on your bike (I'm sure the museum will lend you another similar one), and let's go.
There will be sea, some sun, sand and rocks.
There will also be a lot of old walls, churches in various states of disrepair and newer houses. (Newer = later than medeival).
Squint a bit and you might think you're in Italy instead.
View from St Lars' church.
As promised, old church in disrepair. This one is called St Lars. He probably has a nice latin name as well.
Biggest church ruin in Visby, St Katarina.
Anoher view from inside st Katarina.
Some sunnier ruins, St Olofs in the botanical gardens.
We interupt the sightseeing for a quick word about honey with the locals.
Plenty of windows in the city wall. Nice views too.
The number one selfie-spot, apparently. A lucky empty view.
Please note that no cars are allowed within the city walls. (Unless you have a residents' pemit, I guess.)
Another view of the city wall
And another...
